Walking Break - Day 4

Coniston / Torver / Coniston
After breakfast the walk starts along the Walna Scar road (this is not a proper road it used to link one valley with another in years gone by).  From the Walna Scar road you get magnificent views of Coniston Water and further to the Duddon Estuary and the sea beyond.  On dropping down into Torver you have a choice of a couple of pubs for lunch or coffee.  Or find somewhere quiet to eat your packed lunch.  If you prefer a lower route to Torver the old railway line gives you a different option to the Walna Scar road.   From Torver walk a picturesque path alongside a tumbling beck before reaching open fell land, after crossing the beck the path brings you alongside the lake shore back to Coniston and a 2nd night at Orchard Cottage. If you wish you can catch the Gondola or Launch and sail back to Coniston

You may like to add an extra night in Coniston and take a walk up Coniston Old Man or a sail on the lake and visit Brantwood former home of John Ruskin. If you would like to take in the village of Hawkshead we can give you a walk which lets you do just that.
