  • Ambleside Rushbearing

    Flower-covered variously-shaped rush structures called Bearings are paraded through the town to the accompaniment of a brass band; once the Market Place is reached, the Bearings are raised in the air and the Ambleside Rushbearing Hymn is sung before the procession carries on to St Mary’s Church by about 3.15. Gingerbread is distributed after the short church service, and there are childrens sports and a Fell Race later in the dayAmbleside Rushbearing

    Set in a stunning setting on the shores of Coniston Water, Coniston Country Fair is a traditional Lakeland Show offering visitors an enthralling insight into traditional Cumbrian Life.   • Coniston Epic Lakes Swim

    The Epic Lakes Swim Series consists of either 2 or 3 open water swim events at 3 different locations in Cumbria. Coniston is the third and final event of the series.

    For each date and location there are 2 event distances to choose from which provides novices, intermediates and elite swimmers with a challenge to match.
